Our Purpose:

Our purpose as Green Valley Baptist Church is to:  Share the Good News of Jesus Christ with all people; To disciple fully those who receive Him as personal Savior; To share our lives together in Christian love; To assemble ourselves regularly for worship; and To minister to our world.

Covenant of Relationship:
Having been led by the Holy Spirit to receive the Lord Jesus Christ as our Savior, having confessed Him before men and followed Him in believers Baptism, we do now join in covenant relationship with one another as one body in Christ.  Therefore we are committed to each other in the following ways:

1.  To love and obey God as revealed in our Savior Jesus Christ and the Bible.  (This is the greatest thing we can do for one another.  Everything else in our covenant flows from this beginning.)

2.  To accept each other as we are, and in love serve the brothers and sisters of this body.

3.  To be healing in our relationships with each other by praying for, being supportive of, being encouraging to, and being
open to receive and release each other.

4.  To be giving of ourselves by sharing; our lives together, our faith with the world, and by discovering and using our gifts
within the body.

5.  To be giving faithfully of our material resources to the body in order that we can both be and do the work of the church.

6.  To be actively involved in the meeting of the church.  (We consider our times of fellowship as community, Bible study,
Worship, and business meetings all important to the life of our church and our growth as Christians.)

7.  To spend time in regular prayer, Bible study and ministry.  (It is this commitment to our personal relationships with God
that  enables us to truly minister to one another.)

GVBC Statement of Faith:

    We believe in the divine inspiration and authority of scriptures.  By this we mean that the Holy Spirit miraculously guided the writers in their original writings and that this miraculous guidance extends to all parts of the Scriptures equally, applying even to the choices of the words, so that the result is the very Word of God; the only inerrant infallible rule of faith and practice.  Moreover, it is our conviction that God has exercised singular care and providence through the ages in preserving the written Word, that the Scriptures as we now have them are in every essential particular as originally given, and contain all that is necessary to salvation and an ordered life toward Christian maturity.  II Timothy 3:16-17; II Peter 1:20-21

    We believe that by one man sin entered  into human experience and that original sin is the birthright of every human being resulting in the total depravity of each individual which necessitates his rebirth in Christ.  Genesis 3:6-24; Ephesians 2:1-3; Romans 3.

    We believe in the death of Jesus Christ as a true substitute for sinners and that His death was sufficient atonement for the guilt of all who receives Him.  We believe that His sacrifice made salvation available for every human being.  John 8-38; Ephesians 2:8;
Titus 3:5; Romans 4:16

     We believe that Jesus Christ literally died, was buried, and rose bodily from the grave on the third day for our justification and that He is coming in like manner as He went away to receive believers to Himself.  Acts 1:11; Acts 15:16; Zechariah 4:9; Revelation 11:15;
Luke 1:31-32

     We believe that human beings are justified by faith alone and are accounted righteous before God only by the merit of our Lord Jesus Christ in whom we have eternal security.  Matthew 3:1-13; Mark 1:14-15; Romans 8:35-39; John 10:27-30

     We believe that Jesus Christ was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life and is personally coming to receive His own to Himself before beginning His millennial reign.

     We believe in everlasting conscious blessedness of the saved, in a place called Heaven and the everlasting conscious punishment of the unsaved, in a place called Hell.  Daniel 12:1-2; John 5:28-29; Mark 9:43-48; I Thessalonians 4:14-17; Revelation 20:11-15;
I Corinthians 15:51-54

     We believe in one God who is revealed as existing in three equal persons; the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.  Psalm 83:18; Matthew 28:19
