Life Touch Ministries

Life Touch is a ministry dedicated to touching people’s lives in times of crisis. It includes hospital visits, in home visits, nursing home visits, reaching people in times of need. In times of illness, grief and personal crisis, people need prayer and personal contact from their church family. Our goal is to provide 2or 3 touches for each member in need. “I’m hurting, brother, can you take my hand?” Our scriptural directive is Matthew 8:3. Jesus reached out his hand and touched the man.

Trustees
Our purpose is to oversee and take care of the church building and properties. Including our building, land and automobiles.

Counting for Christ
Two people deposit contributions weekly. They are then checked for accuracy for designations as stated by congregation. We prepare the yearly tax contribution statements on the computer. Contact Mary Jo Steeby.

Clown Ministry
Sharing the joy of Jesus through laughter. We entertain children through balloons and clowning at the Block Party, Air Force base, or schools. We are hoping to start visiting nursing homes and hospitals. We have recently started telling Bible stories with balloons for awards and hope to expand it to VBS if possible. We are excited about where this ministry will go. Contact Jamie Segrist.

Children’s Church
The Children’s Church ministry is based on Biblical stories and values with the purpose of teaching our children about God’s love for them. We also emphasize the need for all of us, even as children, to be mission minded in order to reach others for Jesus. Our curriculum consists of literature which contains Bible stories and activities to teach scripture to the children. Our goal is to encourage the children to learn God’s Word and apply it to their lives as they grow in body and spirit.

Men’s Ministry
The men’s ministry of Green Valley Baptist Church has one primary function: To Connect Men.
First and foremost is to connect Men to their Maker, the Lord Jesus Christ. Men must be introduced to the Lord in order to begin an ongoing, growing, personal relationship to Him. This is accomplished through fellowships, testimonials, men’s events, and through one-on-one purposeful discussions concerning right and wrong, good and evil, and Heaven and Hell.

Then, as men accept the Lord, we connect Men to their Master, God Almighty. Through small groups and discipleship, men learn the principles of godly living and what it means to ‘pick up your cross and follow Christ.’ This is accomplished through Bible studies, book studies and biblical teaching.

By connecting Men to other godly men, discipleship continues in the areas of honesty, integrity, and personal accountability. Men become accountable to other men in small group settings. The greatest earthly expression of a man’s relationship to God is his relationship with his family. We want to connect men to their families where they can love their wives as Christ love the church and love their children with the same heart as Jesus.

Evangelism
The Evangelism Ministry has several different activities you can join in to share God’s love with others. First, we have been able to take a week long mission trip each year. We have gone to places like New Orleans, Mexico, Toronto, Toledo and Colorado. Each trip is different and can involve various activities from construction work to street evangelism.

You can also participate with those who do street evangelism or with those who visit neighborhoods to offer to pray with people, share God’s love, invite them to church. We also do Random Acts of Kindness (RAK) where we do a small service for others or give them a free token – showing God’s love to them.

Throughout the year, you can participate in these activities or take the opportunity to talk to or share with others when the church does activities like the Living Cross, the Block Party or Trails West.

Women of Purpose
Getting out of our box and into His. (Jesus) How? By digging into God’s Word and applying it to our everyday lives. This is an inreach as well as an outreach to the unchurched.

Moms and Munchkins Playgroup
This is a playgroup for moms and their young children up to 5 years old or before school age who want to meet for fellowship and fun. We will meet the first and third Tuesday of each month in Green Valley’s gym. Other activities will be scheduled on the off weeks.

Nursery Volunteer

By being a nursery volunteer, you will be able to help provide a safe, healthy, and fun place for children while parents are able to focus on studying God’s Word. Volunteers serve once every 2 months and can choose which service and age group they prefer.

Library

Our library provides books and tapes for the church to check out and enjoy for one month at a time as well as receive donated books. We need volunteers to serve on-hour periods, to assist with checking incoming and outgoing books and tapes, and return books and tapes to the proper place on shelves.

Funeral Dinners
We provide a meal for church families on the day of a funeral or memorial service. Volunteers prepare, donate and serve a meal to those who have experienced a loss. This ministry provides a special time for families to be together and share memories of their loved one.

Local Missions
This ministry provides opportunity to be involved in our community in a variety of ways. Just a few are: collecting canned goods, Souper Bowl Sunday, Rice Bowl for World Hunger, Thanksgiving baskets, Clothes closet, Free furniture, Jail ministry, Block Party, Thread of Hope, Mitten Tree, Support persons going on missions trips, support State, North American, and International Baptist Missions, Support Patee Park Food Pantry, Baptist Student Union, Soles for Christ, and hospice.

Judgement House
Judgement House is a dramatic walk-through presentation about the truth of people’s choices and their consequences both in this life and the next. A Judgement House presentation becomes an “agent of change” in the community in which it is presented.
