Mark Wayne, Pastor of Students
Mark Wayne is originally from Palm Bay, Florida. He earned his bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Central Florida in 2006. Following graduation God led him to Kansas City, Missouri where he attended Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Beginning in 2006 Mark served as youth minister at Claycomo Baptist Church in Kansas City, Missouri. He received a Master of Divinity degree in 2010 and in 2011 was called to serve at Green Valley Baptist Church.
About Mark:
What Bible story do you wish you had been a part of and why? If I were given the opportunity to be present at just one of the events which took place in Scripture I would want to hear Jesus final words and witness His ascension. This was the capstone of all the Law and prophets, of all that Jesus taught and gave up His life for. It must have had an incredible effect upon those left gazing into heaven. And when the angels encouraged them of Christ’s return they were committed to prayer and to one another. These men went out and gave their lives for the Gospel which changed the world.
What was your first car? 1986 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera
Nobody knows that I still… ?. It’s no secret. Everybody knows.
I cannot go on a trip without… Packing an hour before I leave
If you could ask God one question what would it be? I often reflect of the bold request made by Moses, “Please, show me your glory.” I would ask, “Lord, would you reveal more of Yourself to me? Can I know you more?” A close second comes from the New Testament, “Lord, I believe; help my unbelief!”
What is your favorite meal? The one I didn’t have to make. Lazy? Maybe. But, it will honestly taste better.
What’s on your bucket list? Before I leave this world I want to live for Christ.
Beach or Mountains? I’ll take the sand dunes any day! Beach.
What’s on your bookshelf? Mostly apologetic material with other sections devoted to ethics, church history, American history and inter-faith evangelism. Among my favorite authors are Francis Schaeffer, Ravi Zacharias, and William Lane Craig. Three works which have particularly influenced me are the journals of John Wesley, God’s Polished Arrow: W.C. Burns Revival Preacher and a book written by William Wilberforce with a rather lengthy title abbreviated as A Practical View of Christianity.
I’m happiest when… Reading a good book is one of the ways I recharge. I also enjoy going out to eat with friends and family. I’m probably happiest after reading a good book while going out to eat with friends and family!
