Dr. David Mason, Senior Pastor
 
Pastor David Mason is originally from Colorado.  (Go Broncos!)  He has been serving as Senior Pastor at Green Valley Church since October 1997. 
 
He graduated from Southwestern Baptist University in Bolivar, Missouri.  He earned his Masters of Divinity and Doctorate of Ministry from Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Kansas City, Missouri.  However, the degree that Pastor David is most proud of is his degree of “sinner, saved by grace.” 
 
Pastor David is happiest when he’s surrounded by his family making memories together.  He loves the outdoors, running and biking and ANYTHING to do with the mountains!
 
Pastor David and  his lovely wife, Pam, have five children, Sarah, Seth, Hannah, Matthew, and Esther, two daughter-in-loves, Katrina and Hannah, a son-in-law, Ethan, three beautiful grand-daughters and one on the way and one handsome little grandson!
 
Carrie Shindorf, Church Administrator & Assimilation
Welcome to our NEW leader of our Assimilation’s Ministry Team
 
Carrie Shindorf and her husband, Brian, have been long-term residents of the St. Joseph/NW Missouri area.  They moved away for a few years, but newly retired, they are back home with family and friends! They are enjoying the “semi-retired” life, splitting time between their children and family, and part-time work.

Cort Huffman, Worship Pastor (Lead Worshiper)
 
Cort and his lovely wife, Laurie, have lived in the St. Joseph area all of their lives.  They were married in 1983 at the old Green Valley Baptist Church.  Cort and Laurie have two wonderful daughters, Catrina and Emily. 
 
Cort has been leading worship (lead worshiper) at GVBC since 1988.  He is a graduate of F.P.U., D.J.R.A., P.U. I-70 D.S. and is still learning from L.U.  He has helped add to the econmoic structure of SJCS, SBU, and MWSU. 
 
Cort’s favorite sport is racing, especially NASCAR!  In fact, he loves anything with wheels!  Just FYI, NASCAR is the only professional sport that a prayer is spoken in Jesus name before every event!  Pretty cool, huh?!?!? 
 
Cort loves long walks in the rain and long walks on the beach…. NOT!!! Why walk when you can ride something with wheels?  He loves the mountains, hiking, off-roading, camping and riding his motorcyle with Laurie.  Spending time in the recording studio is also one of his favorite things to do when he has the time.
 
Spencer Kerns, Student Ministry Pastor
Spencer Kerns has accepted our invitation to step into the role of Student Ministries Pastor and will be working with the youth of Green Valley.  Spencer was born Jan 24, 1992, in St. Joseph, MO. He married his beautiful wife (aka best friend) Jessica Kerns on June 20, 2015 and they currently have two boys Roman and Maverick.
 
Spencer is a die hard Chiefs fan, loves music, mostly hip-hop, he enjoys being creative, mostly through writing music. He also enjoys being physically active in whatever way he can, sometimes chasing his dog who’s chasing a chicken! (Yes, we REALLY wish there was some sort of video proof of this!)  And fun fact, he’s also a sucker for coffee & gummy bears!
 
Spencer’s goals: to be the best Godly man, husband, and dad that I can. Also, to never grow content with the spiritual need in the church or the culture.
 
Please help us welcome Spencer (& his precious family) into this Green Valley Baptist Church core leadership position.

Janet Kostman, Part-time Office Assistant
 
Please welcome Janet Kostman as our new Part – time Office Assistant.  She will assist Pastor Rick Durham, and offers extra assistance to any extra office needs.
 
Janet resides in St. Joseph, MO, with her dog, Dally and her horse, Breezy.  Janet has a been a member of Green Valley for last 7 years.  Her passions are spending time with her daughter and adorable granddaughter, Blakeleigh and her animals. She is excited to be a part of the Green Valley team.
 
Kaitlin Sutton, Part-time Worship Ministry Leader
 
Please welcome Kaitlin Sutton as our new Part – time Worship Ministries Leader.  She assists Cort Huffman with worship and leads the 3rd service Worship Team along with several extra events, including, but not limited to, Quarterly Praise Nights and Children’s Ministry Specials.
 
Kaitlin resides in St. Joseph, MO, with her husband Marcus and precious new baby girl, Zola.  Kaitlin has grown up at Green Valley and has a been a member of Green Valley for over a decade and is excited to be able to serve the body of Green Valley in Worship, one of her passions.
