Where Can I Serve?
Jesus told us, his disciples, to make disciples of all nations. One of the most important values of this church is our mission to the world. It begins in our own community, and spreads overseas to every nation. Church members are involved in a variety of ministries from things as simple as washing the church vans, preparing funeral dinners, to preparing the church pews/chairs for Sundays.
Mission Outreach
Green Valley is thrilled to be a part of the spread of God’s kingdom around the world. Each year, we try to send a small team from our church on a week long missions trip. We have taken trips to places like New Orleans, Mexico, Toronto, Toledo and Colorado. We’ve also been a part of teams traveling to Guatemala and Mexico. Each trip is different and can involve various activities from construction work to street evangelism.
We also have a team that regularly participates in street evangelism and visiting neighborhoods to offer to pray with people, share God’s love, and invite them to church. We also do Random Acts of Kindness (RAK) where we do a small service for others or give them a freet token – showing God’s love to them. To learn more about our missions opportunities –
Welcome Desk. Children’s Check-In & Door Greeters
Our Welcome Desk, Children’s Check-In Counter, and the main Doors are often the first impression visitors get when visiting Green Valley Church. These are three vital ministry points for making that “first impression” a good and memorable one! If you are interested in volunteering with one of these ministries, please contact the main office – office@gvchurch.com.
Disaster Relief Volunteer
Southern Baptist Disaster Relief responds to disasters across the US and around the world. Reach people in need with practical help and the hope of the gospel. Serving whomever, whatever, whenever, wherever, and however. Becoming a disaster relief volunteer provides an excellent opportunity for hands on service to people in need. Training is open to any member of a Southern Baptist Church who is at least 18 years of age. Attending training does not obligate you to serve but is necessary before serving.
Mourning Star Grief Support Group
Mourning Star Grief Support is for anyone that has lost a child, of any age. MS meets on the first Wednesday of each month at 6:30 PM in room 3. Mourning Star is led by Kristina Kelley.
Abundant Life Counseling
Abundant Life Ministries is our in-house counseling service. ALM is available on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons at the GVBC campus. Other days may be available by appointment only. We will search scripture together for God’s answers to life’s struggles (depression, loneliness, burdens, whether they be financial, physical, or spiritual). No concern is too big or too small for God! We want to help. You may make an appointment by calling the church office at 816-279-3621 or 816-390-7444.
Prayer Warriors
Prayer cannot be overestimated. Prayer moves the hand of God. Our Church is a body of believers dependent upon prayer, and committed to God’s sovereignty. We have an army of believers dedicated to praying weekly for special needs. If you are interested in serving this invaluable ministry, please email your name and contact information to office@gvchurch.com,
